An old Northcross Intermediate School Song Book, which I picked up at a garage sale some time ago, contains the following pledge:
“We give thanks for the privileges we enjoy as New Zealanders and members of the British Commonweath of Nations: we honour the memories of all those who have served our Country, we will honour our Queen, obey the laws of her Government, and serve our Country...
